OCC is a small family orientated club which likes to do things together. We have a club event once a month where we get together to have lunch or dinner and enjoy. We work year round to provided Christmas for Orange County Children one child at a time. We have been in existance for over 20 years. Our club accepts all makes and models including but not limited to GM, Chevy, Ford, Dodge, Toyota, Chrysler, trucks, antiques and brand new vehicles. We are true car people and welcome all. How “Christmas For Kids” got its start: In 2010 the Orange County Cruisers (OCC) were discussing what charities we were going to send money to, as we do every year. One of the members suggested we keep the donations in the community. We looked at several different ways we could help the community and voted to help children in need at Christmas. Thus “Christmas for Kids” was born. Also in 2010 our organization partnered with the American Legion Post 156, together we made 30 children’s Christmas a little brighter. From 2010 forward our partnership with the Legion blossomed, together we sponsor 50-70 Orange County children per year. We provide both toys and clothes for the kids. The packages are all wrapped and ready to give out on Christmas. The parents are sent a letter requesting they go to the American Legion at a specific date and time to pick up their gifts. The children in need are provided by Donna Waugh, I don’t know how she keeps track of all the children in need but she somehow does. We raise the funds through private donations, yard sales, and bake sales. In addition, Dollar General puts out a box for us every year for donations from the patrons. Our events where we raise funds are the Orange County Cruisers (OCC) Cruise In’s every third Saturday of the month at Burger King in Orange (April thru October) and the Christmas for Kids Car Show at Booster Park (where the car show entry fees go to support the children) the fourth Sunday of September. We will have great tunes provided by James and Stacy Helmic. Booster Park Little League will have food and beverages for sale. We will be hosting a Chinese Auction and a Silent Auction. Community donations are always welcome. We will be giving away approximately 60 trophies. We raise the money for the trophies through advertisements from local businesses on our show flyer. The hours are 10-3 pm on September 27th. Spectators are free. Come on down and join the fun. We are very fortunate the community is behind us and we have the opportunity to give back and make a child’s and parents Christmas a little brighter.
